PERFUME FAQ

Wholesale availability

Wholesale pricing is not offered at this time.

Do you accept returns?

Due to the personal nature of the products, returns are NOT accepted. If you received a damaged or defective product, please contact me right away.

To reduce regrets, I highly recommend purchasing a sampler before investing in a full bottle of perfume.

What kind of carrier do you use in your perfume oils?

With the exception of all-natural scents that use coconut oil and jojoba, all fragrances from Victorian Perfume use IPM as a carrier. Isopropyl Myristate is a synthetic oil produced from isopropyl alcohol and myristic acid, a naturally occurring fatty acid. It is used in many cosmetic and hygiene products, and works well as a skin emollient. Unlike alcohol based perfumes, which are volatile and diffusive, IPM fragrances will stay a bit closer to the body. This makes IPM based perfumes great for the office or for personal enjoyment. Unlike many natural oil bases, IPM has an indefinite shelf life and has greater diffusivity.

Custom and personalized orders

At this time, Victorian Perfume does not accept customization of any kind.

Perfume Safety

Before general use, ALWAYS perform a spot test to check for allergy sensitivities. Allow 48 hours for a reaction to present. Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use during long periods of sun or UV exposure. Do not apply to broken or damaged skin. For external use only.

How long will it take to receive my order?

During an initial period after launching in spring 2017, all items will be made-to-order. This means all perfume oils are blended and assembled after you place your order. In some rare instances, a particular fragrance component may need to be acquired to complete your order. Depending on these factors and current queue volume, processing could take up to 10 business days. I hope to greatly improve this estimate as this collection becomes established.

If you have a concern about processing and shipping time, please contact me to check on the ship time of a particular perfume. Many items in the shop will be ready to ship within a couple days.

Do you use stock oils (i.e. Are you a reseller)?

NO. All perfumes in this shop have been designed and hand blended by me, the shop owner, and typically contain between 6 and 10 different components.

The materials I use encompass many different raw fragrance categories, including aroma molecules, essential oils and absolutes, as well as commercial, proprietary aroma accords. (Some of these materials may contain additional solvents and diluents, such as DPG, IPM, Coconut oil, Ethanol, etc.)

Victorian Perfume is a line of simple, novelty blends meant to delight and entertain your olfactory sense.

Do you sell any natural perfumes?

Currently, I offer one natural fragrance: Damask. I hope to add more in the future.

Some natural ingredients can be extremely costly. Unlike standard fragrances which are designed for consistency in pricing, natural perfumes will vary in price depending on the materials used.

Some natural perfumes, while not containing any synthetic fragrance ingredients, may contain traces of additional solvents and diluents, such as DPG or IPM. (Likewise, standard perfumes may contain traces of coconut oil or ethanol.) This is due to pre-dilution of costly raw materials from suppliers. If you have any questions about a specific perfume, please feel free to contact me before ordering.

Do you use any natural animal products in your blends?

No. All musks, civet, ambergris and castoreum notes are synthetic accords.

How strong are your perfumes?

Most fragrances are in the "Eau de Parfum" concentration, ranging from 15-20%. Some are a bit stronger. As always, a sampler is a great way to decide if a particular fragrance is too strong or weak for you.
